Police Foil A Kidnapping Attempt In Katsina, Leaving One Dead and Fourteen Rescued.
The deceased was one of two rescued victims who were taken to the hospital after being shot.
According to reports, a kidnapping for ransom victim in Katsina State’s Jibia Local Government Area passed away from his wounds while undergoing medical care after being shot by armed bandits.
The deceased was one of two people who were saved from gunshot wounds and taken to the hospital by the state’s police for emergency care.
The incident happened yesterday at around 1955 hours when two commercial vehicles were attacked by suspected bandits with dangerous weapons and intermittent gunfire at Dan’arau village along Magama Jibia road in Jibia LGA, Katsina State, in an attempt to abduct the occupants.
In response, the Jibia’s Divisional Police Officer (DPO) dispatched a group of officers to the area and engaged the thugs in a heated gunfight.
The DPO-led team successfully thwarted the kidnapping attempt and rescued 14 victims, according to a statement released Monday by ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the spokesperson for the Katsina State Police Command.
CP Aliyu Musa, the State’s Commissioner of Police, encouraged anyone with helpful information about suspected criminal activity to report right away to the closest police station, even though efforts are still underway to capture the escaping suspects.
He also urged the officers to keep up the pace after praising their outstanding display of bravery and commitment to duty.
“On November 24, 2024, at approximately 19:55 hours, two (2) commercial vehicles were attacked by suspected armed bandits with dangerous weapons and intermittent gunfire at Dan’arau village along Magama Jibia road in Jibia LGA, Katsina State, in an attempt to abduct the occupants.”
The Jibia Divisional Police Officer (DPO) led a group of officers to the scene, engaged the bandits in a heated gunfight, stopped the abduction attempt, and saved fourteen (14) people.
