As the Christmas day draws closer and the atmosphere is filled with an anticipation. It is indeed a great joy to the ears of many who would see the news that finally Dele Farotimi has been released.
Do you remember Dele Farotimi?
Yeah, He is a political activist who is known for his writitngs. This author critics Nigeria political structure and society challenges.
The author published a book,” Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System” which lead to his arrest. He was charged for defamation.
Which just makes me wonder, what exactly was in this book Farotimi published?. I am also left wondering why Farotimi was arrested following Afe Babalola’s petition.
Remember when I said I was left wondering, well thank God for research. I have a but if an idea, Farotimi referred to Babalola as, ” grandmaster of Judicial corruption in Nigeria amongst other things according to the Africa report.
Babalola expressed his view, ” The statements are meant to lower myself, my law firm and my lawyer’s self-esteem in the eyes and members of the society and also expose us to hatred, contempt or ridicule in the eyes of right-thinking members of the society”
“These statements were intended to cause right-thinking persons in the society to shun and avoid me, my law firm and my lawyers.”
Babalola remained at Correctional Centre in Ekiti state till this morning when he was released.
Just last week Friday, a magistrate court in Ado Ekiti franted Farotimi 30million bail woth two surieties one must be a property owner and with submission of Farotimi’s passport. Farotimi was also prohibited from granting media audience.
While addressing Media, Farotimi said he has never lied before.
Omoyele Sowore disclosed on his official X account.
He wrote: “I am pleased to report that Dele Farotimi is no longer being held at the prison yards in Ekiti state and is now returning home to Lagos. The struggle continues.
