There has been wildfires across Los Angeles and at least 10 people has died with no clear records of casualties yet. This wildfire was due to the both natural and human factors. Prolonged drought and dry season make the environment suspectible. Every got worse by the unusual strong Ana winds which spread the flame across.
According to BBC News; More than 100 000 people were told to evacuate and 10 000 properties were destroyed. Firefighter are making progress and the fire has been contained.
Fire at local parkland has burnt 30 acres has been contained. Small fire first reported in Ventura county about 50 miles (80km) east of Los Angeles that burnt 11 acres has also been contained.
Sunset fire: Reported in the historic Hollywood Hills area near many famous landmarks, including the Hollywood sign. Burnt area: 43 acres.
Five fires are currently burning in the Los Angeles area. Palisades fire: The largest active fire is burning between Santa Monica and Malibu. Burnt area: 20,438 acres. More than 5,300 structures destroyed. At least 30,000 people evacuated.
Eaton fire: Second largest fire burning north of Pasadena. Burnt area: 13,956 acres. Potentially more than 4,000 structures damaged or destroyed. Five deaths reported.
Kenneth fire: In the West Hills area, just north of the Palisades. Began on Thursday afternoon and has so far burned 1,000 acres.
Hurst fire: To the north east of the city. Burnt area: 771 acres.
Lidia fire: Reported in the hills north of Los Angeles. Burnt area: 395 acres.
The country official has also rmed against fundraising scam. ‘Please do not fall for these scams,” Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair Kathryn Barger said. “Be cognizant to the fact there are scammers out there.”
Night curfew has been imposed on the areas impacted but the wildfire. A curfew will take effect from 6pm to 6am local time in the Pacific Palisades and Eaton Fire areas, with more than 200 officers on patrol following reports of looting at uninhabited and damaged properties
California’s Governor, Gavin Newson has asked for an investigation about reports of the shortage of water that the firefighters are experiencing.
In a post on X, Governor Gavin Newsom shares a letter he’s written to the boss of Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, and the director of the LA County Public Works.
“Losing supplies from fire hydrants likely impaired the effort to protect some homes and evacuation corridors,” he wrote.
LA official have also apologised for the messages sent to alot of people’s phone informing them to evacuate their house. These messages were sent by error.
