The blockade was further aggravated by sporadic gunfire from members of a quasi-security organization known as the Nigerian Hunters Forestry and Security Service.

In an official statement, the state police spokesperson, Ahmed Wakili, reported that three individuals from Zaranda Gari sustained injuries during a recent conflict. The affected individuals are identified as Abubakar Yahaya (age 35), Hussaini Yunusa (age 20), and Yayangida Hussaini (age 16). They were promptly transported to the Primary HealthCare Center in Zaranda Gari for medical attention. Regrettably, Abubakar Yahaya succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Auwal Muhammad, has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances of Yahaya’s death and the conduct of the security personnel involved.

“The Command has taken control of the situation to conduct a thorough investigation and apprehend those responsible for this unprofessional conduct,” the police said.

The police said tactical teams have been mobilised to the scene to restore order and reopen the highway.
