Three students awarded UK scholarship

Three Nigerian undergraduates have been awarded the inaugural Queen’s University Belfast summer scholarship.

The recipients are Ahmad Attahir from Nile University Abuja (Computer Science), Adedife Adigun from Osun State University (English & International Business), and Anuoluwapo Olukayode from Bowen University (Computer Science).

A statement on Monday, by the school said Queen’s University Belfast recently launched a summer school scholarship program for Nigerian undergraduates and other African students.

The program, which had a pilot run in mid-2024, will fully commence in 2025.

It includes a series of short courses in fields such as engineering, mathematics, physics, and chemistry.

The scholarship covers tuition fees of £1,400, accommodation fees of £1,300, a 20 percent discount on MSc degree studies, a course certificate, and a transcript. Additional benefits include academic reference letters from the university, Queen’s Sport Off-Peak membership, and a UK visa and travel profile.

Ilesanmi Olade, a Nigerian lecturer at the university, highlighted the scheme’s commitment to diversifying access to education.
