Daniel Dubois successfully defended his IBF world heavyweight title by achieving a remarkable fifth-round knockout victory over Anthony Joshua in a captivating all-British showdown that took place at Wembley on Saturday.

The 27-year-old boxer demonstrated exceptional dominance during the initial phase of the match, successfully knocking down the two-time former unified heavyweight champion on multiple occasions.

In a pivotal fifth round, Dubois experienced a momentary state of disorientation as a result of two consecutive right-handed strikes. As Joshua attempted to capitalize on this vulnerability and intensify the pressure, the 34-year-old unexpectedly found himself on the receiving end of successive right-handed blows, leading to a second knockdown. Regrettably, he was unable to recover in time to continue the contest.

“Are you not entertained?” Dubois said to huge cheers at Wembley.

“I’m a gladiator. I am a warrior to the bitter end. I want to get to the top level of this sport and reach my potential.”

Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk became boxing’s first four-belt undisputed heavyweight champion in May when he beat Tyson Fury, simultaneously holding the IBF title along with the WBO, WBC and WBA.

The Ukrainian agreed to a rematch with Fury rather than facing mandatory IBF challenger Dubois.

Dubois won the interim IBF title in June and was elevated to world champion status when Usyk vacated the belt.
