The Federal Government has launched emergency repairs on the deteriorating 7-kilometer stretch of the Lagos-Sango-Otta-Abeokuta road, a critical route that has been neglected in recent years.

This was announced on Wednesday in a statement issued by the Special Adviser Media to the Minister of Works, Uchenna Orji.

In the statement, Orji emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing the pressing infrastructure issues that affect commuters.

“The road has been bad for a while, and the Federal Ministry of Works is bringing relief to the dilapidated sections in collaboration with the concessionaire,” he explained.

According to him, the repair initiative is part of a larger strategy under the ‘Operation Free Our Roads’ program, which aims to improve the condition of federal roadways throughout the country.

Orji stated, “The Federal Ministry of Works, under the leadership of His Excellency, Sen. Engr. Nweze David Umahi CON, is committed to providing relief to motorists and commuters on all federal roads nationwide.”

He mentioned that motorists and residents have long been frustrated with the road’s condition, which has resulted in longer travel times and safety concerns.

“With these emergency repairs underway, the government hopes to restore smooth transit for the thousands of people who rely on this critical route every day,” he said.
