Aston Villa produced a memorable repeat of their famous European Cup final victory over Bayern Munich as they won 1-0 in the Champions League at Villa Park.Villa beat the German club 42 years ago to lift Europe’s biggest prize when Peter Withe was the hero in Rotterdam.Jhon Duran was the matchwinner this time as he continued his role of super sub, with a 79th-minute strike his fifth goal after coming off the bench this season.

Atletico Madrid stunned after its biggest loss in Europe since 2021: ‘It was really bad’

Muhammed Kerem Akturkoglu opened the scoring in the 13th minute, and Ángel Di Maria, Alexander Bah and Orkun Kokcu added second-half goals for the Portuguese club. Di Maria and Kokcu scored off penalty kicks.

Real Madrid slipped to an unexpected Champions League defeat at the hands of Lille on Wednesday night in what was a first ever meeting between the clubs.

Lille stunned defending European champions Real Madrid with a 1-0 victory at the Pierre Mauroy Stadium. Jonathan David’s penalty in the first half sealed the deal for the French side.

Liverpool secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over Bologna at Anfield in their second match of the 2024/25 Champions League.

Early Goal: Alexis Mac Allister opened the scoring for Liverpool in the 11th minute, converting a cross from Mohamed Salah. * Second-Half Strike: Salah added a second goal in the 75th minute to seal the win for the Reds.

Dominant Display: Liverpool controlled much of the match, with their attacking trio of Salah, Mac Allister, and Dominik Szoboszlai proving too much for Bologna’s defense.This victory ensured Liverpool continued their perfect start to the Champions League season, following their 3-1 win over AC Milan in the opening match.

Benfica soundly defeated Atletico Madrid, securing their second victory in the Champions League

Benfica‘s Kerem Akturkoglu, Angel Di Maria, Alexander Bah and Orkun Kokcu scored in a 4-0 demolition of Atlético Madrid on Wednesday to start their Champions League campaign with two consecutive wins.

A mistake by Atlético’s defence helped Akturkoglu open the scoring in the 13th minute and another error ended with a penalty which Di Maria converted.

Bah extended Benfica’s lead with a header from a corner in the 75th minute and Kokcu completed the rout against Diego Simeone’s side from the penalty spot after Reinildo Mandava fouled substitute Zewki Amdouni.

The match between RB Leipzig and Juventus was a thrilling encounter that ended in a 2-3 victory for Juventus.

The home side took an early lead through Benjamin Sesko, but Juventus responded with goals from Dusan Vlahovic and Francisco Conceicao. Despite playing with ten men for much of the second half, Juventus managed to secure the win thanks to their resilience and clinical finishing.

Ademola Lookman’s stellar performance led Atalanta to a resounding 3-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk in their Champions League match.

Lookman not only scored a goal but also played a key role in creating the other two. This win puts Atalanta in a strong position in their group with four points from two games. Meanwhile, Shakhtar Donetsk remains on one point after two matches.

Feyenoord claimed their first Champions League win of the season, edging out Girona 3-2 in Spain.

The match, which featured former Manchester United star Donny van de Beek in the Girona lineup, showcased a captivating display of attacking football.David Lopez opened the scoring for Girona in the 19th minute, but Feyenoord quickly responded with an own goal from Yangel Herrera. Quinten Timber then gave the visitors the lead with a well-taken finish.Despite missing a penalty before halftime, Feyenoord extended their advantage early in the second half thanks to another own goal from David Hancko. However, Girona fought back, with Arnaut Danjuma assisting van de Beek for his first goal in over two years.The drama continued as Ladislav Krejcí inadvertently put Feyenoord back in front with an own goal of his own.

Girona pushed for an equalizer late in the game but were denied a penalty and ultimately fell to Feyenoord’s first away win in the Champions League since 2002.

Gunners Outclass Parisians as Havertz and Saka Shine

Arsenal Capitalizes on Donnarumma Errors to Defeat PSGArsenal secured a crucial 2-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in their UEFA Champions League clash at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners’ triumph was largely attributed to two goalkeeping errors from Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Barcelona ran riot against Young Boys, securing a dominant 5-0 victory in their Champions League opener.

Young Boys threatened a response with Lamine Yamal causing problems on the wing, but their efforts were short-lived.Barcelona doubled their lead shortly afterwards when a deflected shot fell for Raphinha to smash home. Pedri continued to pull the strings in midfield, delivering a pinpoint free-kick for Eric Garcia to thump a header past the helpless Young Boys goalkeeper.The second half saw Lewandowski add another goal with a close-range header from a Raphinha corner.

Young Boys continued to struggle, and their best chance of the game saw Joel Monteiro rattle the woodwork. Barcelona capitalized on their dominance again with a fortunate own goal as Mohamed Ali Camara sliced an attempted clearance past his own keeper.Young Boys thought they had grabbed a consolation goal in the dying moments, but a VAR check confirmed offside. The final whistle blew on a dominant performance by Barcelona, who secured a comprehensive victory and signalled their intent for the Champions League campaign.

Dortmund ran riot over Celtic, handing them a crushing 7-1 defeat in the Champions League.

Inter Milan cruised to a 4-0 victory over Red Star Belgrade in their Champions League home opener.

Inter started with an early goal that set the stage for the remaining 80 minutes.
