Police In Ogun Arrest Supposed Rapist of TASUED Female Students on Wanted List

While attempting to blend in with the crowd, the suspect was captured in Ijagun thanks to helpful information from members of the public.

The Ogun State Police Command has officially announced the arrest of Olayemi Shedrack, a 33-year-old man who had been placed on its wanted list. Shedrack was allegedly accused of raping several female students at the state-run Tai Solarin University of Education in Ijagun after robbing them of their valuables.

In a statement released in the state capital of Abeokuta, police public relations officer Omolola Odutola of the command said that the suspect, who was attempting to blend in with the crowd, was captured in Ijagun thanks to helpful information from bystanders.In response to a tip, Olayemi Olawale Shedrack, 33, was observed in Ijagun trying to blend in with the throng; however, intelligence sources confirmed his real identity. She stated, “He was quickly taken into custody after the police were notified.”

As the primary suspect in a reported armed robbery and rape incident that occurred on July 21, 2024, Olayemi Olawale Shedrack has been under police investigation for his involvement in armed robbery and sexual assault. “During this crime, he and his accomplices unlawfully entered the female Royal villa accommodation area at Tai University of Education in Ijagun,” the police report states. Before leaving the area, they sexually assaulted female students and took cash, sports watches, laptops, iPhones, and other priceless educational items.

According to her, the suspect has been taken to the Igbeba police station in Ijebu-Ode for questioning following the start of a preliminary investigation.”The suspect will shortly be moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a comprehensive investigation and prosecution, the public can be assured of that.

She said, “Ijagun residents are urged to provide credible information to help the police arrest other fleeing criminals. Commissioner of Police Alamutu Abiodun is aware of the arrest and has ordered the apprehension of Shedrack’s accomplices.”
