The Abuja Court of Appeal has upheld the Federal High Court’s decision to invalidate the N800 billion budget approved by a faction of the Rivers State House of Assembly led by Edison Ehie.
Appeal Court Overturned The Rivers 2024 Budget That Was Passed By The Edison-Ehie Group
The appeal submitted by the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, was dismissed by the appellate court due to its lack of substantial grounds.
The Honorable Court determined that Governor Fubara voluntarily withdrew his counter-affidavit during the proceedings at the lower court. Consequently, he lacks the legal standing to initiate an appeal against a matter that he failed to contest at the trial stage.
