In a stunning upset, Cameroonian mixed martial artist Francis Ngannou delivered a remarkable first-round knockout victory against Brazilian opponent Renan Ferreira at the PFL Super Fights event held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on the previous night.
The heavyweight, aged 38, successfully defeated Ferreira via brutal ground strikes during his initial mixed martial arts competition in approximately three years.
Francis Ngannou, the Cameroonian UFC star, made a strong comeback in MMA, knocking out his opponent in under four minutes
The 38-year-old individual became emotionally overwhelmed and shed tears as he dedicated his triumph to the memory of his deceased 15-month-old son, Kobe, who regrettably passed away earlier this year.
“My son Kobe is the only thing on my mind. The sole reason I accepted this fight was for him,” Ngannou stated respectfully.
“I participated in the fight in his honor. I sincerely hope that his name will be remembered, because without Kobe, we would not be here tonight. I would not have participated in the fight.”
Ngannou, a previous UFC heavyweight champion, respectfully returned to the ring after a 22-month hiatus, having engaged in highly regarded boxing matches against notable athletes such as Mr. Tyson Fury and Mr. Anthony Joshua.
He contemplated retiring earlier this year, but respectfully chose to continue playing in memory of Kobe as a way of “paying tribute to him”.
