The Department of State Services (DSS) has removed Adegboyega Fasasi from his position as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Chief Security Officer.
Rasheed Atanda Lawal, another officer and Deputy Director of the Service, has been appointed to succeed Fasasi.
Although details of the replacement were still sketchy last night when it became public, it was learned that Fasasi, who had served as CSO since Tinubu took office, was replaced because he had been sent for professional training.
According to sources, the Director-General of the DSS, Tosin Ajayi, has requested that President Tinubu approve Fasasi’s release from his position as CSO so that he can attend a strategic training course.
However, another source last night stated that Fasasi’s removal and replacement was not unexpected.
According to the source, the outgoing officer should have anticipated it because it is common practice in the service.
According to the source, whenever a new DG takes office at the DSS, he is most likely to embark on reorganization in various areas of the service, especially around the President.
