The Israeli military officially confirmed on Tuesday that they successfully eliminated a prominent figure within Hezbollah, Hashem Safieddine, who was considered a potential successor to the organization’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah. This operation took place in a southern suburb of Beirut approximately three weeks ago.

“It can now be confirmed that in an attack approximately three weeks ago, Hashem Safieddine, the head of Hezbollah’s Executive Council, and Ali Hussein Hazima, the head of Hezbollah’s Intelligence Directorate, were killed along with other Hezbollah commanders,” the army said in a statement.
