The product’s batch number, according to a notice issued by NAFDAC on Thursday, is 93529610.According to reports, the recalled Nivea product contains 2-(4-tert-Butylbenzyl)propionaldehyde, a chemical that is not allowed in cosmetics because it can damage the reproductive system, harm an unborn child’s health, and cause burns and skin irritation in users, the agency said.

NAFDAC added that the product is manufactured in Germany with Bar Code Number 42299882.

In order to stop the importation, distribution, sale, and use of the impacted Nivea Roll-on with the designated batch, it advised importers, distributors, retailers, and consumers to be cautious and vigilant throughout the supply chain.

People who own the impacted batch should stop selling or using it and turn it in to the closest NAFDAC office. “Healthcare providers and consumers are encouraged to report any adverse events experienced with the use of regulated products to the nearest NAFDAC office, via pharmacovigilance@nafdac.gov.ng, E-reporting platforms available at www.nafdac.gov.ng, or through the Med-safety application available for download on Android and iOS,” the statement continued.
