On Saturday, Mr. Musiliu Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo, who was the previous Chairman of the Lagos State Chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, was chosen as the organization’s new National President.

The election was held at the Union’s Zonal Secretariat on the Osogbo/Ikirun road, and Akinsanya was the only candidate.

The election was attended by delegates from the four Southwest states of Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, and Ekiti.

Aliyu Issa-Ore, the group’s acting national president, watched and observed the election, which took place during the Union’s Quadrennial Delegate Conference.

Speaking to the crowd, Issa-Ore clarified that the Union’s Constitution requires the zone allowed to appoint the national president to choose its own candidate and submit them to the national assembly.

“The Southwest zone has fully complied with the Constitution in electing Oluomo as President,” the acting NURTW President said, through Mrs. Adedamola Salam, Head of Finance at the National Headquarters in Abuja.

Additionally, Akeem Adeosun was selected as a Trustee from the Zone, and Tajudeen Agbede was elected Vice President, Southwest by the delegates.
Akinsanya, flanked by colleagues and family, urged for peace shortly after taking the oath of office and promised to strive for unity among members.

He added, “I hope those I have offended will forgive me as well. I have forgiven everyone who has wronged me.”

This is our union, and we have to be dedicated to keeping it that way. We refuse to let anyone ruin our source of income.
