Afam Osigwe emerges as the new NBA president

Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Afam Osigwe has been elected as the president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). Osigwe, a former Secretary-General of the NBA, received the highest number of votes in the 2024 NBA election, which was conducted online.

In the same election, Mrs. Bridget Ijeoma Edokwe was elected as the Publicity Secretary of the association. The voting process started at 12 AM on Saturday and ended at 1:59 PM, with real-time results displayed throughout.

Osigwe secured 20,395 votes, surpassing his closest competitor, Tobenna Erojikwe, who received 10,970 votes. Chukwuka Ikwuazom, SAN, a former chairman of the NBA Lagos Branch, garnered 9,007 votes. Osigwe will succeed the outgoing NBA president, Yakubu Maikyau, SAN.
