As it expands as a supplier of AI chips in a market dominated by Nvidia (NVDA.O), Advanced Micro Devices (AMD.O), opens new tab is anticipated to announce several new AI processors and other chips at an event in San Francisco on Thursday.When AMD unveils its next generation MI350 chip next year and its MI325X chip this year, as it promised to do when it unveiled them at the Computex trade show in Taiwan in June, details of those chips are probably going to be revealed.

The company’s June presentation stated that the MI350 series has more memory and processing power. The AMD architecture is meant to rival Nvidia’s Blackwell architecture.Additionally, AMD is probably going to release new PC chips and server CPUs with increased AI computing power.Since the current MI300X AI chip’s late-year launch, AMD has swiftly increased production to keep up with demand.
The company increased its annual projection for AI chips in July from $4 billion to $4.5 billion. Its MI300X chips are in high demand due to the craze surrounding the development and application of generative AI products.Since there is a far greater demand for these chips than there are available, Nvidia’s data centre revenue is unlikely to be impacted by AMD’s launch on Thursday.Based on LSEG estimates, analysts anticipate AMD to report data centre revenue of $12.83 billion this year. Wall Street anticipates $110.36 billion in data centre revenue from Nvidia. The money made by data centres can be used as a stand-in for the AI chips required to create and execute AI apps.
