It was reported that yesterday the community of Ibadan lost a man, his wife and his grandson.
This three were killed in a fire accident at Ori Eru, Idikan area of Ibadan, Oyo State. The fire affected a Storey Building.
The General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, Yemi Akinyinka released a statement about the fire.
“On arrival, we found the upper floor of a six-room residential storey building engulfed in flames. We swiftly swung into action, and the fire was completely extinguished,” Akinyinka said.
“They slept off after putting on the fire,” the statement said.
Apart from the three dead bodies, fire people were rescued from the fire.
“From our investigation, we discovered that in their attempt to keep their house warm due to the cold weather, they resorted to using a naked flame, which led to the fire disaster after they had fallen asleep,” he explained.
Tragedy struck on Friday and as if it was not enough another fire incident was recorded on Saturday.
On Saturday at around 2: 02am, another fire incident occurred at Agodi-Gate in Ibadan, Oyo State. The cause of the fire was unknown as firefighter flooded the place determined to help.
The fire destroyed propertiesa materials and other spaceport in the market. People living around were alerted by the dark smoke. Here are some remarks from the shop owners
“But I arrived at the market, the deed had been done already. I just took delivery of auto spare parts at the Nigerian Ports Authority, Tin Can Island.
“I have lost everything to the incident. My appeal is for the government to come to our aid.”
The community tried to stop the fore but it was to no avail. Hoodlums also broke in and went away with the goods in the market.
The hoodlums cart away with million of naira worth of goods. Karimu one of the shop owners revealed that he has lost goods worth 25 million naira.
He also said, ” I started around the will area, Amuloko in Ona Ara local government area. I received a distress call from one of my friends that “Iso Pasti is on fire around 2;45am.I hurriedly left my house with the assistance of one of the landlords in my area who owns a motorbike otherwise known as Okada”
The General Manager of Oyo State Fire Services said despite their efforts to stop the fire. It is however saddening that the hoodlums are stealing goods. What is your view on this?
