The General Manager of Public Affairs Transmission company of Nigeria(TCN), Ndidi Mbah has released a statement concerning the power outage at Aso rock.
Some part of Aso rock is in darkness due to to the theft of 132KVa underground transmission company cable.
Ndidi Mbah has confirmed the occurrence and explained that 60 percent of power supply to Abuja as the vandals carted away 40 meters of 1×500mm2 XLPE conductors on the 2 numbers 132kva transmission lines.
The incident had an effect on eight distribution feeders supplying the Central line.
“The vandalism of this critical infrastructure is suspected to have occurred near the Menillum Park axis of Abuja,” Mbah said.
The power outage has affected parts of the Presidential Villa, Maitama, Wuse, Jabi, Lifecamp, Asokoro, Utako, and Mabushi, following a vandalised 132kV transmission line and underground cable supplying bulk power to the Central Area transmission substation in Katampe, with thieves carting away 40 meters of 1x500mm XLPE conductor.
Mbah made her concern about recent incident of cable theft known as it continues to influence the delivery of power across the country.
She also that a group of engineers are already doing all they can to quickly restore power to the affected parts.
