There has been an ongoing disagreement between the two well-known comedians since 2006. The disagreement started due to unpaid performance fees and escalated in 2022, resulting in the avoidance of each other in public settings.
In March 2023, AY alleged that Basketmouth had not yet compensated him for a show he hosted for him. In response, Basketmouth characterized his colleague’s account of the incident as “misinformation.”
Nevertheless, after Basketmouth’s apology late last year, both comedians have resolved their differences amicably.
In the recent episode of the ‘Glass House with AY’ podcast, the comedian expressed that he did not receive the payment for the show, while Basketmouth asserted that the payment was made.
AY also shared insights into his prolonged disagreement with Basketmouth.
“I was unaware of the exact moment when the conflict began. I simply observed its commencement. Each day, I awoke with the assumption that it was a typical occurrence, as boys will be boys. Over time, however, it escalated into a situation that persisted for several years,” he explained.
“In the third year, rumors regarding the disagreement appeared to proliferate, extending the duration of the conflict beyond a reasonable timeframe.”
AY highlighted the significant impact of the feud on the careers of younger comedians. He stated that their conflict inadvertently caused harm, as they held a position of influence and support within the comedy community.
Basketmouth further stated that individuals often pledge allegiance by default. Consequently, during periods of strained relations, certain individuals made it their concern.
A fellow comedian contacted me to inform me that AY had approached him for a potential collaboration and sought his opinion on the matter. I responded positively, expressing my approval and happiness about the prospect. I believe this collaboration would be mutually beneficial, as it would demonstrate to the industry that it is acceptable to work with either of us. Ultimately, it presents an opportunity for increased revenue and expanded career prospects.
