A book about the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Lekan Balogun, will be released tomorrow at the Civic Centre in Idiape, Ibadan.
The event is expected to be the culmination of a symposium commemorating the late monarch, who reigned from March 11, 2022 to March 14, 2024.
Dr Layo Adeniyi, an educationist, wrote the book, which chronicles the Ibadan chieftaincy traditional system and includes information about Oba Balogun’s life and times.
It has 221 pages, which cover 21 chapters. The book focuses on past heroes of Ibadan, founders, notable Olubadan, ruling lines, and the Ibadanland emoji.
It explains the path to the Olubadan throne, the journey to become a high chief, and the members of the Olubadan-in-council.
The book describes the uniqueness of Ibadan chiefs in ascending the throne of Olubadan without resentment.
According to the organizers, the book, titled “The Life and Times of the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland, the Late Oba Lekan Balogun,” is a must-read for Ibadan indigenes, residents, and well-wishers.
It honors the city’s prominent sons and daughters, as well as its fallen heroes.
Alhaji Fatai Olanrewaju, the Ekerin Parakoyi of Ibadanland, and High Chief Fijabi, Agba Akin Olubadan, will be the chief launchers, with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde serving as the special guest of honour.
Olubadan of Ibadan Oba Owolabi Olakulehin is the grand host. Oba Rashidi Ladoja is expected to serve as the event’s chairman.
