The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested Omoyele Sowore, former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2019 and 2023 elections, upon his return to Nigeria. Sowore, who departed from Washington Dulles International Airport at 6:14 EDT, arrived in Lagos at approximately 9:43 WAT, where he was taken into custody.
The arrest follows a directive issued by DSS Director-General Adeola Ajayi, who instructed airport security and immigration officials to detain Sowore upon his arrival. This action is reportedly linked to Sowore’s involvement in the recent 10-day #EndBadGovernance protests.
