Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced plans on Wednesday to give employees a minimum salary of N85,000.
This was revealed by Sanwo-Olu in a Channels TV interview titled “One-On-One with Babajide Sanwo-Olu.”
“You brought up the minimum wage and what I must contribute on behalf of my people. I am happy to inform you that, as per our discussions with our union, the current minimum wage in Lagos is N85,000.
“I will not say that we are paying more than some other people because it is not a competition; it is a function of affordability and a function of capacity,” the governor declared.
After the federal government decided to set the new minimum wage for workers at N70,000, this happened.
