To each of this question, I raise ” Christmas at lagos,”. The name perfectly articulate the thoughts the writer and producer had in mind. It definitely defines Christmas on lagos.
Let me walk to you through the storyline?
The movie started with a young lady, Fiyin in normal Lagos traffic. She went to the airport to pick her cousin and her bestfriend who was coming from London to Lagos. I Just Got Back(if you know, you know). The drama really gets interesting when the bestfriend who she was interested in spoke of his plans to marry another woman. It felt like the plot twist of the century we are all kind of used to.
The relationship between Fiyin and her mom is one to envy. They literally talk about everything while still keeping the normal Nigerian mother and child banter.
It was interesting to seee Fiyin’sMom in a love triangle at her old age. What an explanation of I am old but I still got it? Two elderly men declaring their interests and love as the case may be in the way they could. It encapsulates the saying that old people can love also. When I mean love, I mean butterflies in my belly as I watch kind of love. It was like security over riches.
Remember I talked about Fiyin’s bestfriend showing up with a girlfriend he was ready to proposed to. I felt Fiyin pain when she tried to think of reasons to discredit the babe and did not see.
The movie is perfect for a feel good time. The exquisite details that was displayed. Chief dozie’s birthday had me wondering who the event planner was like it was real. Wealth was richly exemplified. The movie screamed wealth in a wealthy way.
It speaks of loss on grief also. The feeling during Christmas without your loved one. Ot also speaks of dealing with grief.
It also perfectly explains the concepts of Detty December and all Christmas stands for in Lagos.Â
