Cocaine Bound For UK, Europe Intercepted By NDLEA in Sanitary Pads

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has discovered and intercepted shipments of cocaine and pharmaceutical opioids that were cleverly concealed within ladies’ sanitary pads and hair treatment cream containers. These consignments were destined for the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Cyprus.

The Directorate of Media and Advocacy reported that officers of the Directorate of Operations and General Investigation discovered a significant quantity of cocaine during a routine examination of cargo shipments destined for Ireland on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. Specifically, approximately 30 parcels containing 1.1 kilograms of cocaine concealed within hair cream containers were intercepted.

The statement further mentioned that another shipment consisting of 24 packages of cocaine weighing 862 grams, cleverly concealed within hair cream containers, intended for delivery to the United Kingdom, was also intercepted at the same company on Friday, September 6th. Additionally, a total of 525 pills of tramadol 225mg and ecstasy (MDMA), ingeniously hidden within ladies’ sanitary pads, destined for Cyprus, were seized at a separate courier firm in Lagos on Tuesday, September 3rd.

The NDLEA further informed that a shipment containing 200 ampoules of promethazine injection and pentazocine injection, concealed within food items and herbs, destined for London, UK, was successfully intercepted by its operatives on Wednesday, September 4th.
