The Crude Oil Refinery-owners Association of Nigeria (CORAN) has praised Aliko Dangote and the Dangote Refinery team for their efforts in commencing the production of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol. In a letter of commendation, CORAN Chairman Mr. Momoh Oyarekhua emphasized the significance of this achievement, noting that it highlights the transformative role of private sector-led initiatives in revolutionizing Nigeria’s energy sector.

Oyarekhua stated that the beginning of PMS production marks a critical step towards Nigeria’s goal of self-sufficiency in petroleum refining and demonstrates the value that CORAN members contribute to the nation’s energy landscape. He lauded Dangote Refinery as a prime example of how private investments can drive growth and development in key industries, including energy and petroleum refining.

This achievement is seen as a major milestone in reducing Nigeria’s reliance on imported fuel, improving local refining capacity, and promoting the broader development of associated industries.
