The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has mobilized its operatives across all 18 local government areas of Edo State in a bid to prevent voter inducement during the state’s governorship election on September 21, 2024. This is part of the EFCC’s broader commitment to ensuring electoral integrity across Nigeria.
EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, reaffirmed that the commission is determined to safeguard voters from financial inducements. He emphasized the need for a free and fair election, noting that vote buying is a serious financial crime that threatens the democratic process. The deployed operatives are tasked with closely monitoring election activities, detecting vote-buying incidents, and taking swift action to uphold the democratic process.
