Queens required only a victory to advance, and the late strike was sufficient to ensure their progression. The defending champions’ fate was definitively sealed when Mary Mamudu capitalized on some questionable defending from a set piece, propelling the Nigerians into the lead and securing a memorable triumph over the defending champions in the final moments of added time.

In preparation for the upcoming match against Sundowns, the newly inaugurated governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has encouraged Edo Queens to secure victory and bring home the cup.

This triumph over the South African team has significantly enhanced Edo Queens’ chances of claiming the trophy for the first time in their history.
