The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has confirmed the apprehension of Idris Okuneye popularly known as Bobrisky at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport during his attempted departure from the country.

According to a source, the crossdresser was arrested for the allegations he made in an audio conversation with a male friend that was made public by social critic Very Dark Man in October. This was stated by the commission’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale.

In the audio conversation, an individual claiming to be Bobrisky alleged that he made a payment of N15 million to the EFCC in exchange for the withdrawal of money laundering charges filed against him earlier this year.

Oyewale stated that Bobrisky’s arrest and detention were necessary to facilitate his assistance in the investigation of the bribery allegation presented in the audio recording. He explained that Bobrisky was initially invited for questioning after the audio’s release, but his refusal to cooperate compelled the agency to take legal action and apprehend him.

However, Idris Okuneye, aka Bobrisky, has denied being the individual heard on the audio recording.
