The MoU aims to establish a framework for collaboration between the Nigerian government and Ericsson Nigeria in the areas of 5G technology development, deployment, and innovation. Nigeria is Africa’s most populous country, accounting for more than 15% of the continent’s population.
The cooperation focuses on supporting Nigeria’s digital transformation objectives, such as economic growth and improved public services, through advanced, secure, and trusted 5G technology.
Other partnership goals include exchanging knowledge and building capacity in the technology sector, assisting Nigerian innovation hubs and tech incubators, and improving digital literacy and skill development.
Vice President Shettima was accompanied by a high-ranking delegation that included Nigeria’s Foreign Minister, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, and Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy Minister, Dr. Bosun Tijani, as well as regional Nigerian state leaders and senior officials from Nigerian ICT and communication organizations.
