Residents and businesses around Mobil Ring Road, Ibadan, were left stranded on Tuesday Afternoon following severe flooding caused by an intense downpour. The heavy rainfall, which began around 4PM, overwhelmed drainage systems, leading to extensive flooding in the area.
Several homes, shops, and vehicles were submerged as floodwaters quickly rose, disrupting daily activities and forcing some residents to evacuate. Eyewitnesses reported that the water levels were unprecedented, with several roads becoming impassable. Commuters were trapped in traffic as the flood swept across major routes connecting the area.
Affected residents have called on the government to address the poor drainage systems in the area, a long-standing issue that has contributed to recurrent flooding during the rainy season.
