Victor Boniface, a striker for Bayer Leverkusen and Nigeria, will miss Wednesday’s Champions League game at Brest due to an automobile accident that occurred on Sunday.

German media outlets Bild and Kicker reported that Boniface was not on board when the plane left for France in the afternoon, and the forward did not train in Leverkusen on Tuesday.Boniface was involved in an accident on Sunday when his vehicle on the autobahn collided with a truck.The 23-year-old posted pictures and a video of a black Mercedes with a crumpled chassis on social media on Sunday. He also included pictures of his blood-soaked arm.Simon Rolfes, the sporting director for Leverkusen, informed reporters on Tuesday that although Boniface had not suffered any serious injuries, he was doubtful for the match.
“A situation like this is not easy, and he needs to move on,” Rolfes stated. “It is still open at the moment.””That he did not suffer any serious injuries makes us all very happy.”In ten games across all competitions this season, Boniface has scored seven goals. Patrik Schick, a Czech forward who is expected to replace him, has only scored one goal in eight games across all competitions.
