Dani Carvajal, a Spanish defender, will likely miss several months of action after Real Madrid announced on Sunday that he required surgery for a serious knee injury he sustained during a La Liga match against Villarreal.

Real Madrid released a statement saying, “He has been diagnosed with a rupture of the popliteal tendon, a rupture of the external collateral ligament, and an anterior cruciate ligament rupture in his right leg.In the closing minutes of the reigning champions’ 2-0 victory over Villarreal on Saturday, Madrid captain Carvajal injured his knee, bringing the team level with La Liga leaders Barca, who play Alaves on Sunday.Under pressure from Villarreal winger Yeremy Pino, Carvajal attempted to clear a ball away before collapsing in agony.
The right-back, who helped Spain win Euro 2024 this summer, revealed on Instagram that he would be absent for a few months as well.Carvajal wrote, “It is confirmed that I have a serious cruciate ligament injury. I will need surgery and will be out for a few months.””I am eager to begin my recuperation and return stronger than ever. I sincerely appreciate all of your messages; I feel incredibly loved.On social media, Carvajal received encouragement from other celebrities as well as his teammates.

However, according to Spanish reports, he should be back to full strength following the international break.
