On Sunday, a popular Nigerian skit maker and comedian wrote his thoughts about the last year on Instagram. Mark Angel, the script writer posted a video highlighting events of the past year. His caption stirred up reactions among followers and passerby alike.
His cation was:
This year 2024 began like every other year, but i had no idea how much it would test me how much it would break me, yet ultimately reshape me. It was the year I lost everything. I trusted the wrong hands in forex and lost all my money. Nobody knew except my family and closest circle. The weight of the loss, over 3.7 million dollar of investors funds was suffocating. Almost took me to prison, I was drowning in debts, and one by one , I watched all my properties slip into the hands of loan shark. It felt like my world was crumbling, and in my darkest moments, I considered ending it all.
The skit maker went ahead to appreciate all those who have made it possible for the year to be bearable despite the storm. He appreciated his wife, his pastor, wx-wife and son amongst others.
He also spoke about fake friends been exposed and getting a closer relationship with God. He concluded with with a hope message” If 2025 taught me anything, it’s that even in the darkest valleys, His light never stop shining.
Mixed reactions has been expressed to Mark Angel’s post. While some believed him and expressed sympathy, others express doubt or try to correct his choice.
A post was made by the X handler yabaleftonline and has stirred up the comments. The post was titled:
You can’t lose $3.7m in FX if you are well trained and use a regulated broker” – Nigerian financial trader tells Mark Angel following his loss.
This one is saying non sense.
Forex is about losing and gaining .
Fortune seekers have loss millions before getting what they want
This morning alone, $5.4m is gone and I’m not even moved at all.
If you’re not motivated, you’ll keep losing, go back in there, and get your money back. By Xandy-Jay
But do we have anyone who believes what Mark Angel said?
Despite not knowing much about crypto, I know na lamba the drop- RMA-Aramis
Mark Angel’s $3.7M forex loss should be a masterclass on why ‘quick money’ schemes stay silent on the risks.
If he won, we’d get webinars. Now? Crickets. Forex is just fancy gambling. By iamthatnegro
Denison Onigwe, a former colleague of Mark Angel, wrote this on Instagram.
