The popular actress, Iyabo Ojo was on the show Talk to B earlier today where she revealed that she had been raped 5 times.
She spoke of her background explaining that she grew up at a big extended family. She had to live with her grandmother because her parents were no longer together. She had encounters with her mother but did not know who she was. She referred to her mother as, “Aunty Bunmi”.
The relationship between her mother and father did not work out well. This was due to the fact that her father’s lifestyle was incompatible with her mother’s life. Her father was referred to as, ” spoilt rich child”, he loved to groove and enjoy the vanities of life. He was seen as her uncle rather than her father. Everything lead to her having a confusing and fun childhood.
After secondary school, she has to start working as a sales rep. Her admission to Unilag was made void due to failure in English.
She had to attend Lagos State Polytechnic and forfeit her Unilag admission because she got pregnant.
Due to her family background, she insisted her baby’s daddy get married. The love story changed at the wedding night. She had to leave the marriage due to neglect and emotional blackmail.
Iyabo is a social person and was an activist from time. She got into acting from watching a movie that starred Bimbo Akintola. She later discovered a friend of her knows the actress house and boldly decided to go there.
Next thing, Iyabo Ojo was Knocking on Bimbo’s gate with a request to become and actress. Iyabo started mentorship with Bimbo and was able to get roles.
While talking about her activism, Iyabo Oyo mentioned that due to the fact that she has experienced molestation she understands the effect of rape.
Biola Adebayo asked what she meant by experience, Iyabo said she was raped five times. She was raped at different ages and at different stages. When asked how she deals with it.
Iyabo answered that she has not been able to fully overcome it and has instead become overprotective of her daughter, Priscilla. She personally wrote a letter to Priscilla to confirm the number the school is to call.
Iyabo also emphasised the need to train bother male and female children. She stated that she beat and discipline her children. She used her social media influence to fight for girl children.
When she was asked of the way she met her current lover. Iyabo spoke about hie they met through DM. Her lover, Paulo had texted to invite her to his event at Dubai. She declined since she had another event to be at. They went out on a date and built friendship. Like it is commonly said, “The rest they say is history”
