“Is Edo State Governor literate?” Questions are raised in the heart of citizens

Edo State House of Assembly was in uproar  as the governor presented His budget. Senator Monday Okpebholo, the governor of Edo State who is a business man and politician found it difficult to pronounce the  amount in the budget.

He is the senator that represented edo central district from 2023 to 2024. It was however a shock to the  House and fellow citizens of Nigeria that the governor could not pronounce the amount.

The Appropriation bill was titled, ” Budget of Renewed Hope for a rising Edo” with the sum of 605,776, 065, 857.34 billion naira.

The one minute and seventeen seconds video that went viral on social media showed  the governor stuttering while trying to pronounce the numerical value of the budget.

” The Edo State 2025 Appropriation bill of 6million…650…605million..76thou…76million
Let me take it again, 506 billion…..605 billion…sorry 776biillion… sorry, it is confusing me”.

At the end of this statement the House went into uproar before the speaker, Blessing Agbebaku called for order.

Despite the hiccup, the governor went ahead and continued his presentation after letting the House know that the amount was confusing him.

The comments from Nigerians shows mixed reactions to the video. While some questions the literacy of the Governor, others sympathise with the citizens of the state.
This video has brought up a questions in the heart of many and in mine too.
