Kwara gov appoints Vice Chancellor for new University Of Education

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has appointed Professor Medinat Folorunsho Salman as the inaugural Acting Vice-Chancellor of the newly established Kwara State University of Education in Ilorin, the state capital.

Salman, a mathematics education professor, was a lecturer at the University of Ilorin’s Department of Science Education and the coordinator of the Educational Technology Centre before being appointed.

She earned her Bachelor of Education from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 1985; a Master’s degree in Mathematics Education at the University of Ilorin in 1990; and a doctoral degree in Mathematics Education from the University of Ilorin in 1998.

She is the first female professor from Ilorin Emirate.

“Her research interests include mathematics education, gender issues in mathematics and science education, and innovation in mathematics education in the developing world,” according to a statement signed by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, and released to the press on Tuesday.

“The appointment is with immediate effect”, the statement said.

Remember that the state government founded the University of Education, Ilorin in May of this year.
