The Labour Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, has raised allegations of the diversion of over N12 billion and $15 million in donations intended for the party’s 2023 presidential campaign. The party’s National Working Committee (NWC), led by Julius Abure, has formally called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the National Security Adviser (NSA) to investigate the alleged misappropriation of these funds.

The NWC has requested an investigation into Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, activist Aisha Yesufu, Pastor Itua Ighodalo, and key figures from the pan-Yoruba group, Afenifere. The party’s leadership is concerned that the alleged mismanagement of campaign donations could harm its credibility and seeks accountability from those involved.

This development marks a significant internal conflict within the Labour Party, raising questions about the handling of funds meant for the party’s presidential bid.
