Lagos Ibadan Expressway on lockdown due to accident.

It was a total stand still this morning on Kara Bridge as a result of an accident. Both motorist and residents of this areas were stuck on the road due to the multiple  truck accidents.

It was reported that more than two trailers were involved and the trailer  both fell to the sides of the road.

Channel TV reported that seven vehicles was involved in the two accident. The vehicles are: Volks Wagen Bus with vehicle no KJA436YD, Nissan Urvan with registration no CO1203Rs, an articulated Mack Truck with registration number T17083LA, another Mack with no vehicle registration, a blue-coloured Iveco articulated truck with registration number KMC594ZQ, Toyota Hiace bus with registration number 14C241DT and a Sino articulated truck with registration number AAB440XC.

The Lagos sector commander of FRSC, Kehinde Hamzat also told Channel Television that the bus driver died and the park association took his corpse. One preason was informed dead with Four injured in the first accident that happened at midnight.

The occupants of the area told Foundation of Investigative Journalism had this to say, ” There was a fatal accident on that route. I saw two trailers on the road, though I don’t know if some buses or cars were also involved in the accident. Coming to Lagos, the road was free, but from that Kara area to Secretariat, everywhere was blocked.”

A driver also said, ” Three trailers fell down at Kara. That’s what caused the traffic. Moreover, accidents happen in the area every December like this.”

The second accident has no record of death and happened almost the same time as the first.

Areas like Berger, Ojodu, Grammar School, Akiode and Jakande-Agidingbi but commuting to First Gate, Ojota and Ikeja areas have been observed to be stranded. The demand for public transport was higher than the supply.

Hamzat explained that the accident was due to overspeeding which lead to the loss of control.

FRSC told motorist “explore alternative routes to avoid delays.

“Postpone non-essential trips where possible to ease traffic congestion.

“Exercise patience and caution to ensure safety during this period.”

Residents were seen walking to their destination.
