Liverpool have reportedly made their first move to extend Mohamed Salah’s contract, with his current deal set to expire in June 2025. The delay in negotiations had fueled speculation about Salah’s future, with the forward himself hinting that this season might be his last at Anfield.

While Paris Saint-Germain have ruled out pursuing Salah, several other clubs remain eager to sign the 32-year-old, who is said to prefer staying at Liverpool. Reports suggest Salah is open to a one-year extension on his existing terms, though the club had previously remained silent on the matter.

With less than three weeks until January 2025, when Salah could begin talks with foreign clubs, Liverpool have now presented an initial offer. However, details regarding the proposed salary and contract length remain unclear, and reports indicate that a resolution to the ongoing saga is not yet imminent.

This development coincides with separate reports claiming Salah is close to agreeing to a new deal. Meanwhile, Liverpool are also negotiating extensions with Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold. While van Dijk is reportedly dissatisfied with the terms offered, Liverpool face stiff competition from Real Madrid in their efforts to retain Alexander-Arnold.
