Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has reiterated that the Ibadan Circular Road project, initiated by his administration, will significantly enhance industrial growth and create employment opportunities for the people of Oyo State.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State addressed concerns raised by protesters regarding the demolition of buildings for the Ibadan Circular Road project, ensuring that no further demolition would occur in certain areas along the road corridor. He reassured the public that his administration is committed to their well-being, while also emphasizing the project’s importance for boosting industries and creating employment opportunities.

Makinde clarified that while his government has not acquired additional land, the current plan follows the standards set by past administrations. Specifically, former Governors Lam Adesina and Rashidi Ladoja marked a 150-meter corridor, while the administration of Governor Abiola Ajimobi extended it by an additional 350 meters, making a total of 500 meters. However, Makinde promised that buildings between the 150-meter and 500-meter marks would not be demolished, urging residents to halt any new developments until new arrangements are finalized.

The governor invited the affected communities to appoint representatives to collaborate with the government on how to move forward with the development, which aims to foster industrial growth along the corridor. Makinde praised the peaceful conduct of the protesters and reiterated that his administration remains focused on sustainable development for the state.
