Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the governor of Ondo State, has authorised N34 million for 46 people as part of the state government’s Medical Assistance Program.
According to information obtained, the program’s goal is to help those with a variety of illnesses who are unable to pay their medical expenses.
Aiyedatiwa said his administration has put the welfare of its citizens first since its founding when he presented the checks to the recipients at the State Ministry of Health in Akure, the state capital, on Tuesday.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Banji Akaka, represented the governor, who urged the recipients to use the funds for the intended use.
“These checks are being given to people with a variety of illnesses who are unable to pay their medical bills,” he stated. The Medical Assistance Program requested N230 million in funding in order to assist individuals throughout the state. However, only N34 million was allotted to benefit 46 people because of financial limitations. We urge the recipients to make prudent use of the money and value Mr. Governor’s kind approval.
Additionally, since the value of health insurance will only increase in the years to come, we encourage everyone to sign up for the program.
The commissioner went on to say that only 46 people received a total of N34 million, despite the ministry having originally requested approval for over N200 million for the project due to financial constraints. He encouraged recipients to sign up for the state health insurance program in order to guarantee access to reasonably priced medical care.
