The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has begun issuing the first batch of Provisional Allocation Offers to subscribers of the National Housing Programme (NHP). This marks a significant step forward in the government’s efforts to provide affordable housing across Nigeria.

Dr. Marcus Ogunbiyi, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, made the announcement in Abuja. The distribution of these offers, which began in April 2024, follows a review of the sales conditions and procedures for NHP houses, as outlined in a circular issued on December 29, 2023.

Dr. Ogunbiyi highlighted that while some subscribers have completed their payments, others have only made partial deposits. He reminded all subscribers that they have 90 days to finalize their payments and announced an additional eight-week grace period for those who have not yet done so. Failure to complete payments within this extended period will result in the revocation of the offer.

The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, also emphasized the ministry’s commitment to the National Housing Programme, stressing that contractors must complete housing projects to ensure value for money and prevent any abandoned projects.
