Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, emphasized that for Africa to fully harness its abundant natural resources and achieve significant human development, the continent must seek internal solutions, beginning with proper education for its youth.
She expressed this view during a meeting with the Burundian Ambassador to Nigeria, Edouard Nduwimana, at the State House in Abuja.
In her discussion with the Ambassador, the First Lady highlighted that the key to addressing Africa’s challenges lies within the continent itself, stressing the importance of strengthening bonds of brotherhood among African nations to foster development. She urged African leaders to empower and engage the youth in developmental efforts, emphasizing that the era of taking the continent’s natural resources for granted is over.
“Education is the tool for development, and I thank God that Africa has recognized that the path forward is to ensure our youth are educated so they can claim their rightful place in the marketplace. I also believe that the youth must realize the need to step up and embrace the opportunities before them,” she said.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu expressed her belief that leading by example will inspire the youth to participate in building the continent’s future. She also reiterated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to elevating not only Nigeria but Africa as a whole.
Ambassador Edouard Nduwimana, speaking through an interpreter, expressed Burundi’s gratitude for the First Lady’s support for education. He acknowledged that while Burundi has faced its share of crises, the country is now on a path toward peace and progress.
