The Presidency has dismissed reports of an alleged plan to impeach Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Senator Basheer Lado, President Bola Tinubu’s Adviser on National Assembly Matters (Senate), urged the public to disregard these claims, emphasizing the strong and harmonious relationship between the Executive and Legislature.

In a statement, Lado reassured that President Tinubu is committed to maintaining a collaborative partnership with the legislative arm of government. He noted that the Senate will continue to operate independently without interference, adding that the security presence at the National Assembly complex is for the routine safety and protection of lawmakers and staff.

Lado clarified: “Our attention has been drawn to online reports suggesting that security personnel were deployed to prevent senators from performing their duties, particularly concerning an alleged impeachment of the Senate President.

“I categorically state that these claims are baseless and should be ignored, as there is no discord among the senators.

“The legislative body remains united in its commitment to advancing Nigeria’s democracy.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in line with his commitment to a harmonious working relationship with the Senate, acknowledges the crucial role the Senate plays in legislative progress.

“It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.”
