NSIB Reports Two More Dead From Port Harcourt Helicopter Crash Recovered

After Thursday’s crash, three people were officially declared dead. At the time of the incident, there were eight people on board the aircraft: two crew members and six passengers. The NSIB reported that three more people are still missing and that additional bodies have been recovered just one day after the crash.

Two more bodies have been found, bringing the total to five. On Friday’s episode of Channels Television’s breakfast program Sunrise Daily, NSIB Director General Alex Badeh stated, “There are three more down there that hopefully will be recovered today.” “Unfortunately,” Badeh said in response to a question about the likelihood that no one on board the plane survived the crash. this time, that is the working theory”.

He stated that it would take days to recover the aircraft wreckage and that investigators are currently en route to the accident scene.

Although recovering the remaining bodies there is the top priority, he acknowledged that there is a “chance” that some of the people on board the plane might still be alive.“Human beings are resilient. It is possible that we could find survivors there as long as they have their life support equipment, Badeh said. One kilometre from its intended destination, the Eastwind Aviation-operated helicopter, registered 5N-BQG, crashed. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) was the one who hired it.

After departing from the Port Harcourt Military Base (DNPM) and travelling to the FPSO-NUIMS Antan oil rig, it crashed along the rivers in the capital of Rivers State at approximately 11:22 a.m.According to Badeh, “there was so light and moderate rain on their arrival and there was an overcast,” though the cause of the incident is still unknown. We would investigate that. That may have an opportunity or a part to play.I can not really say anything else until we get the flight recorder back and talk to more witnesses there.

All eight people on board the aircraft may have perished in the incident, according to Rivers State police authorities. On Friday, the Rivers State Police Command declared that all eight people on board were believed dead.”The aircraft and its occupants are being recovered by the Rivers State Police Command’s Marine Division in collaboration with other agencies.”

President Bola Tinubu directed authorities to step up their rescue efforts after the crash. He also offered the NNPCL and the victims’ families his condolences for the collision.
