The Nigeria Police Force has summoned the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, and the General Secretary, Emma Ugboaja, to appear at their headquarters on September 5, 2024.
This latest summons comes just a day after Ajaero responded to a previous police invitation concerning serious allegations, including criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treason, subversion, and cybercrime.
This time, the NLC leaders are being asked to answer questions related to criminal intimidation, actions that could disturb public peace, and property damage. The invitation was issued by the Force Intelligence Department (FID) and signed on August 28, 2024, by Commissioner of Police, Operations, Ibitoye Rufus Alajide, on behalf of the Deputy Inspector General of Police.
The letter states: “As part of our investigation into criminal intimidation, actions likely to cause public unrest, and property damage in which your name is mentioned, you are requested to come with Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja for an interview at the Force Intelligence Department (FID) Complex in Abuja on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at 11 a.m. Please call Usman on 08039659139 when you arrive. Your cooperation is appreciated.”
