The unit showed remarkable bravery by successfully repelling the violent attack by the roughly ten attackers, who were travelling in two vehicles. While the other suspects fled with gunshot wounds and left behind their operational vehicle, an ash-colored Mercedes Jeep with Lagos State registration number AAA 101 GR, one suspect was neutralised in the ensuing gunfight.
According to the statement, there were no reported casualties or injuries among the operatives. Officers found the abandoned car, 15 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, an AK-47 rifle, and an IPOB/ESN flag after the incident. To find the remaining suspects, a thorough search of the surrounding bushes is being conducted.
Aboki Danjuma, the state commissioner of police, asked everyone, particularly medical professionals, to report anyone they see suffering from gunshot wounds or seeking treatment for them to the closest police station.
The statement went on to say, “The command is still dedicated to protecting the safety of all citizens and will keep addressing any threats to public peace in the state.”In a related development, Jesse Chidebere, a 17-year-old female student at Imo State University in Owerri, was taken into custody by the Orji Police Divisional Headquarters on Monday for staging her kidnapping and death, which the command spokesperson said caused “significant distress to her family and the university community.”
