The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has supplied petrol to the depots in Port Harcourt and Warri as part of its efforts to address the ongoing fuel shortages across the country. To ease the loading process, oil marketers have urged NNPC to open its portal and grant them access to petrol supplies.
In response to the persistent fuel lines, NNPC redirected several cargo vessels carrying Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to its facilities in Warri and Port Harcourt. According to oil marketers, NNPC used smaller “daughter” vessels to transfer PMS to the depots in Rivers and Delta States, aiming to alleviate the congestion caused by trucks crowding the Apapa depot in Lagos in search of fuel.
With the worsening PMS shortage, numerous tankers have been waiting at various depots in Lagos to load petrol before transporting it to states across the nation. Although some trucks have started loading PMS, reports indicate that NNPC’s supply remains insufficient. Consequently, the national oil company diverted several vessels loaded with gasoline to its depots in Warri and Port Harcourt to reduce traffic in Apapa and expedite the distribution process.
