President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is reportedly preparing to shake up his cabinet amid growing pressure from within and outside the All Progressives Congress (APC). Tinubu is expected to sack some underperforming ministers and reassign others to different ministries to enhance overall effectiveness.

Sources within the Presidency, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, have indicated that a cabinet reshuffle is imminent. “What I can tell you is some ministers will go, a few will swap positions, and new people will be brought on board. The President is now more focused on capacity—on bringing in people who can easily add value to his government,” one source stated.

Another insider revealed that Tinubu’s close associates believe he requires a stronger cabinet to effectively implement his policies. The source referenced an editorial from the Financial Times, which noted that while Tinubu has made bold decisions and introduced significant reforms, his current cabinet lacks the strength to support these initiatives.

“There is a consensus among his close allies that he needs a more robust cabinet to push through with his policies. It’s one thing to announce policies, but it’s another for your ministers to deliver the desired outcomes. Often, the ability to achieve these outcomes depends on the capacity of your cabinet members and heads of agencies,” the source added.
